H! My name is Susan and I would like to share with you my B6 story.
My symptoms began in Nov 2005. At first, I noticed that my top and bottom front teeth felt
a little senstive. By February 2006, the sensitivity turned to pain (chronic pain) and then my tongue started to burn. I saw my dentist and and ENT. They couldn't find anything to explain my oral issues. I later went to see a neurologist who believed I was suffering from trigiminal neuralgia......even though I didn't fit the profile. Seizure meds were prescribed and gave me no relief. I began to take a closer look at what I was taking (prescription meds). I was only taking a sleep aid called ambien. I researched ambien and found that it did indeed cause nerve pain for some people. I was sure I knew now the source of my pain. I stopped the ambien, but continued to suffer more. About a year later, my hands and feet started to feel numb, burn and sting. Walking was difficult and I also was suffering from heart palipatations and fatigue as well as muscle aches. Long story, short, frustrated with drs and could not get a firm diagnosis, I decided I would go to the Mayo Clinic. Finally a diagnosis was made. My levels were 139. I have stopped the B6, it has been a year now, but I continue to suffer horrific pain, especially orally. I was only taking a multivitamin with only 2mg of B6......even though one dr put me on a B complex vitamin, unaware I was further poisoning myself. I long for the day I can get my life back. I am limited to what I can do and tire easily. My pain is chronic and severe. I was told that the body will heal itself. I pray for relief everyday. This is a dangerous vitamin, even though it is water soluable. Be careful with it. So, that is my story. Blessings to you all..........Susan4AU

DeleteEveryone here should be taking vitamin b12 in the methyl b12 form, this will help heal the nerves, and lower b6 levels, alongside methyl folate to aid in absorption.. Methyl b12 shots are even more ideal, other then that 1,000mcg- 5,000mcg sublinguals taken on an empty stomach at least 20 minutes before any meal.. Country life 5000mcg, Enzymatic therapy 1000mcg, and jarrows 1000, and 5000mcg yield the best absorption!

Deletehi i believe i am suffering from b6 toxicity, i eat many of the foods on the list for foods high in b6 and i have been having problems with nerves, especially for pleasure nerves, which i now cannot feel, its only been a short time so i hope this blog can help me stop any permanent damage to my body.

ReplyDeleteJan i was diagnose with neuropathy from diabetes 2 and toxic b6. Well i never had an a1c over 7 for the last 10 years. My blood work came back as over twice the high normal for b6 and 200 points higher than the high for b12, I didn't take any b supplements, had 3 mg of b6 in my multi, what i did take for years was milk thistle, now this kept my liver enzymes low to below normal. I gave it up my b 12 is in normal range b6 is only 6 points above normal. And neuropathy is worst than ever. Which i was told it would get that way before it gets better

I had B6 toxicity. It caused the nerves in my legs and arms to tingle for months. It mostly went away over time. I finally started using a near-infrared sauna (just one 250 watt lamp) and the remaining symptoms quickly disappeared.
ReplyDeleteI had to do my own lab work and diagnose myself because doctors were useless. They are also no help with recovery. I am 2 months out from stopping the B6. Twitching, tingling, numbness, body aches, stabbing pain all over my body, heart palpitations, dizziness, fatigue, headaches and light sensitivity. I have found CBD oil from hemp has helped my symptoms immensely. I have been able to get to work and do what I need to do. Can’t exercise yet. And can’t eat high B6 foods. And it doesn’t eradicate all symptoms completely. But has been a great help. You can buy it at most health food stores. It’s legal, almost no THC- .03 %. No high of any kind or cognitive impairment. But you will develop a tolerance to it, and have to increase you dose, so it can get pricey.
